Revive Your Drive For Success
Remember when you couldn’t wait for your next great adventure? Well what do you do when you’ve lost that drive? Let’s talk about how to Revive Your Drive for Success.
Remember what it was like to hunt
Reminders are essential to revival. Remember the sounds, tastes, emotions and even smells of success. The feelings you had waking up each morning knowing that there was something out there worth hunting. And then the race began.
Where’s Your Why?
You remember what your Why was back then. It may have been your family or even just plain old desperation but whatever it was then, things didn’t change, you need that why again. Find it. Put it up on you Vision Board. Tape it to your bathroom mirror. Your Why is your Northstar.
Develop a Plan
I remember when I opened our restaurant. A detailed 26 week plan gave me clear direction. I would never been able to accomplish anything without it. Time to employ that same discipline. Set down with pen and paper and stop playing around.
Assess Your Current State
Time to take stock in what you’re assets and liabilities are. Do you need some more education, funds, time, people? Gather together the parts and pieces you’ll need to be successful. This time you’re much smarter than the last time. Don’t forget to add a little extra just in case.
Surround Yourself With Likeminded people
There is no substitute for good company. Maybe last time you did a solo act. Tough but doable. This time you’re thinking a few more hands to make light the work. Good idea. Reach out to as many trusted, motivated people as possible. The younger and hungrier the better.
Give Yourself a Timeline
Deadlines are essential. I’ve always worked better under pressure. You ever notice that the most points are scored during the last two minutes of each period. All of the sudden everyone gets real serious. So give yourself time but not too much.
Develop Markers Along the Road
How are you going to know your progress. Markers. Markers serve another purpose, they help you develop momentum. Momentum is your best friend. The more momentum, the easier things seem to be and they seem to make things work faster.
